Last Friday we held the last Fresh Fridays event of the summer. Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a fun success! Over 230 people came and had a great time enjoying a potluck style dinner, delicious summery mocktails, amazing music by Afrika Gente Afro-Latin Jazz Band, and conversation and visiting with neighbors and friends. Mayor Menino even stopped by to check out the event and see the site in person, and we enjoyed chatting with him and getting to show him what we’ve been working on. It’s wonderful to have the support of the city and the Mayor on a project like ours and we were glad that he could make it.
Throughout the summer, the Fresh Fridays series saw over 500 people attend in total, and we couldn’t be happier that you all chose to participate with us and make the site of the future coop at the corner of Topliff and Bowdoin street a thriving community hub. We’re so glad to share the vision with you and so glad that you have shown how much you want to take part!
Remember, even though Fresh Fridays are over for the year, the site itself will be open on Saturdays while the weather is still nice. Feel free to hang out, check out the books that you are free to borrow or take, watch the gardens grow, or just catch up with neighbors on the picnic benches. We’re also going to be launching workshops and classes in the next few weeks at the site so check back for more details and don’t be shy to get in touch if you want to teach a workshop or have suggestions for something you would like to learn!
