The site of the future Dorchester Community Food Co-op was the subject of a wonderful article on the front page of the August 11 Boston Sunday Globe Metro section! Click HERE to see the full article. The article highlighted the work of our partner, Sustainability Guild International, in breathing new life into the empty lot at the corner of Bowdoin and Topliff Streets. We are laying the foundation for the Food Co-op by bringing together neighborhood residents and folks from across Dorchester to enjoy the new “Bowdoin Geneva Community Hub”: a space to celebrate food, healthy living, community, and cultural programming. Our Fresh Fridays is taking place on the site–join us for our last two events Friday August 16 and Friday August 23.
To achieve our goals of building a permanent food co-op in this space, WE NEED TO DOUBLE OUR MEMBERSHIP BY THE END OF THE YEAR! Now is a great time to join, as we embark on a capital campaign to raise the money to build the co-op. Help show our funders the depth of the community support for this project. If you are already a member, ask ONE more neighbor or friend to join–download the coop brochure and distribute. If you haven’t joined yet, join on-line today (see sidebar on this page) or download the membership form and send in your membership by check to PO Box 240231, Dorchester MA, 02124. Questions about membership? Contact our Membership and Outreach Organizer Lynn Murray: Together we can make this a reality!
